Fish is Iraqi food too
Baghdad sits on the Tigris, and the city's signature dish is masgouf: a whole fish split open, seasoned, and slow-grilled over an open fire beside the river. That tradition is why fish feels at home on an Iraqi-influenced menu. Our whole fish is seasoned with our house spice and served over saffron rice with lemon, onion and pickled turnip. It's a centerpiece, the kind of thing you order for the table.

How to order it
Fish is cooked to order, so it takes a few minutes longer than a sandwich; it's worth sitting down for. Ask for the catfish grilled if you want it lighter, fried if you want it Friday-night. The garlic shrimp with a side of hummus and pita is a quiet favorite. For the whole fish, call ahead at (248) 438-6672 so we can confirm availability.
